Wellness and Sport Sciences
Wellness and Personal Training Certificate – 22 hrs
Students can earn the 22-Hour Wellness and Personal Trainer Certificate as a stand-alone credential, or they may complete all 22 hours as part of Area V of the Associate in Science degree. This certificate is especially valuable for students interested in careers such as education, sport management, physical education, exercise science, or other related fields.
Students who successfully complete the program and pass the American Council on Exercise Personal Trainer Exam will become certified personal trainers and CPR certified through the American Heart Association.
There is no formal application process for the Wellness and Personal Trainer Certificate. However, you must inform your advisor that you plan to pursue the certificate so it can be recorded in Degree Works.
All students must take the following 16 hours (recommended to take PED 100 first and PED 223 last):
- PED 100 – Fundamentals of Fitness (3hr)

- PED 105 – Personal Fitness (1hr)
- HED 231 – First Aid (3hr)
